Muscle Cars America : 1969 Dodge Charger

interior dodge charger 1969 custom

In 1969 not much was changed for the popular Charger. Exterior changes included a new grille with a center divider and new longitudinal taillights both designed by Harvey J. Winn. A new trim line called the Special Edition (SE) was added. This could be available by itself or packaged with the R/T, thus making an R/T-SE. The SE added leather inserts to the front seats only, chrome rocker moldings, a wood grain steering wheel and wood grain inserts on the instrument panel. A sunroof was added to the option list as well, and it would prove to be a very rare option (some 260 sold). The bumble bee stripes returned as well, but were changed slightly. Instead of four stripes it now featured one huge stripe framed by two smaller stripes. In the middle of the stripe an R/T cutout was placed. If the stripe was deleted, then a metal R/T emblem was placed where the R/T cutout was. Total production was around 89,199 units. readmore on wikipedia.

Road & Travel’s Martha Hindes wrote up a great article about the 2011 Mustang ‘Vert as one of the top 10 sexiest cars of 2011. And Martha puts the Mustang in some pretty impressive company. Not only does she compare the Mustang to Harrison Ford, George Clooney and Charlie Sheen, she also puts it in a category that includes some very impressive sports cars.

Well, it’s not a 1967 Mustang Fastback, but it is a 1968 Mustang Coupe or notchback.. and it’s a great deal.. My buddy just totaled up the the receipts that he kept – some got misplaced – and it’s totaling $17,937.71 in just parts… People, that’s not including the cost of the car nor all his labor of love. Add all that into the mix and we are looking a 35-40k into this car.. Who in their right mind could pass this opportunity up. Talk to me.. send me an offer on the car.

I know, I know.. it’s not a fastback nor is it 1967.. Hey, but it’s a Mustang and it’s for sale! I heard the car is running and driving, trim has been polished and he is getting ready to buff out the paint.. Once that’s done, pictures will be hitting this site, first one to give him a good offer will be the proud owner of this restored 1968 Mustang Coupe. I have already received two offers, had to turn them down because the car wasn’t completed at the time, nor were they fair offers.. Both wanted to take the car as-is, which my buddy didn’t want to do. So are you ready for become the next owner of this 1968 Mustang?

If that Mustang in the next lane, a current 2010 model, has a "5.0" badge on the fender, someone's putting you on. On the other hand, beginning later in 2010, as Ford announced today, it's likely to be the real thing, a 2011 Ford Mustang GT packing a 5.0-liter V-8, rated at 412 horsepower. That, to use the vernacular, is a bunch.

In addition to the highly advanced V-8, the 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0L has specially tuned electric power assist steering (EPAS). Ford says that in the Mustang GT, the electric power assist steering has a quicker on-center steering response, meaning there's less delay when a driver turns the wheel sharply from dead ahead. The EPAS is also tuned to provide greater effort at highway speeds and reduced exertion needed for low-speed parking maneuvers, says Ford.

The 2011 Ford Mustang GT will be offered as a convertible and Ford worked to increase its structural rigidity, succeeding in raising lateral stiffness by twelve percent compared to the 2010 Mustang convertible. The A-pillars get added rigidity from the use of stiffening foam. A tower-to-tower front strut brace is now standard and various braces have been strengthened, gusseted or added to the Mustang GT convertible's chassis.

mustang fender flares

mustang fender flares
We scoured the internet looking for a solution to our fender woes. With the new 275 Toyo Proxies up front, combined with an increased track and offset from our Griggs/MM front suspension, we were left pulling our hair out trying to find a fender solution that would let the tire clear the fender. We found many partial posts, and a couple of manufacturers that promised the perfect solution – but nobody had a step-by-step how to on flared fenders for the Mustang Coupe. Until now.

Every car is different. But when it comes to modifications that are well beyond the original intent of the designers at Ford, you’re faced with more art than science. There are two things that are constant for any original fox Mustang: The original front suspension geometry sucks, and the front fender openings are too small to accommodate a decent sized tire.

offers replacement fenders in fiberglass for $399/ea, or vacuum bagged carbon for $769/ea. They only show fenders available for Mustangs 1994-2004, but rumor has it you can order for Fox Mustangs as well. (Griggs lists the Fox fenders for sale, but apparently nobody thought to photograph them) It’s pretty tough to smack down a grand (with shipping) without so much as a picture of the product. They have a great reputation, and a nice following with the SN95 crowd, but as fox owners – we felt a little like the proverbial red-headed stepchild.
